| These photos show Meat Cove River viewed from the beach before and after the flood. The bridge led down to the beach where there were storage sheds used by fishermen and the local kayak business. There was also a shed containing a winch for hauling fishing boats in an emergency that had been used for generations. These are all gone. The beach bridge, the road along the river, and the concrete slipway are also gone. The white sign to the left is where the boardwalk trail from the Welcome Center used to come out to the beach. (see details) The boardwalk, now destroyed, was a very pleasant hiking trail and the result of many years of work by the community. | ||

| The road at Meat Brook to the left is where the bridge stood to the right is the community center, CAP site and restaurant in season. It is literally feet from the chasm, the picture shows where the debris from the flood has washed up against the building deck, the picture doesn't show the side of the building where much of the deck was washed away and the footings for the deck undermined. Work is currently under way shoring up the decking. | ||
